How to get rid of neck flab

There are different techniques to firm the neck:

  • Injections: of hyaluronic acid (HA), calcium hydroxyapatite (HaCa), polycaprolactone or simply vitamin complexes.
  • Tensor threads: Polydioxanone (PDO), simple or serrated (Cog), braided (Screw, tornado, 360 degrees), etc.
  • High intensity focused ultrasound: HIFU technology.
  • Radiofrequencies: mono- or bipolar, exo- or endodermal (with gold microneedles).

Treatments for neck flaccidity

  • Hyaluronic Acid injections: they are performed with low to medium density cross-linked Hyaluronic Acid, depending on the degree of flaccidity, age and thickness of the skin. They are performed every 6 months and at the beginning may require 2 to 3 shock sessions spaced 1 month apart. Results are visible from the second session.
  • Injections of calcium hydroxyapatite (HaCa) or Polycaprolactone: they are performed in 1 session and the effect usually lasts from 9 to 12 months. The results are visible from the moment of the injection, but even more so after 4 months, the time necessary for the creation of new collagen.
  • Vitamin complex injections: these usually include non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid; protocols are adapted to the individual needs of each patient: for example, 1 session every 15 days, 4 sessions in total, and repeat the procedure after 6 months. The effects are usually noticeable from the third session.
  • Polydioxanone tensor threads (PDO): in the simple ones, about 10 threads are placed on each side of the neck and, in the others, about 2 or 3 threads per side. The effect is immediate due to the mechanical traction they exert, and somewhat more visible about 2 months after implantation (as they generate collagen).
  • HIFU technology: with this high intensity focused ultrasound system, a temperature elevation of between 4 and 6 mm deep is achieved, which activates the fibroblast and the consequent production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, giving firming to the skin of the neck. It is performed every 3 or 4 weeks and with 2 or 3 sessions good results are obtained, besides being able to reduce the fat of the double chin. The procedure can be repeated every year. The results are visible one month after the session and, above all, after the second session.
  • Radiofrequencies: they try to provoke a controlled heating in the dermis in order to stimulate the fibroblast to produce collagen and elastin and, indirectly, hyaluronic acid. Classic radiofrequencies stimulate from the outside reaching a temperature of up to 41 degrees on the outside, and this heat is transmitted inward to the dermis. This is performed in cycles of 4 sessions, one every 15 days (depending on each device) and is repeated every 6 months -generally-, having to wait about 3 sessions to see results.

The great revolution has been the endodermic radiofrequency with gold microneedles, which manages to penetrate the skin about 2 mm. and from there emit the radiofrequency, which makes it extremely powerful. A session is performed every month and a half, in total 3 sessions, with visible results from the first session and subsequent maintenance only once a year.

Advantages and disadvantages of treatments for neck flaccidity

  • Hyaluronic acid and vitamin injections: natural components that nourish the skin, but with short duration of effect and possibility of bruising.
  • Injections of collagen inducers (HaCa and Polycaprolactone): natural stimulus for collagen induction, easy to inject. In thin skins, possibility of hematomas and concretions of the product in the form of nodules (greater with HaCa).
  • Threads: mechanical traction of the structure without volume increase. Possibility of high hematomas, pain (reduced with topical anesthesia cream) and short duration of effect.
  • HIFU: visible effect after one month, but very high price and inflammatory edema for almost a week and painful after application.
  • Radiofrequencies: good results, affordable price. The simple one requires several sessions and the effect may not be so evident because the high temperature heating is sometimes not bearable because of the pain and, therefore, there is no good stimulation. However, endodermal radiofrequency with gold microneedles allows for lower temperature and much greater stimulation. It leaves redness of the neck, which lasts 24 hours, and is bearable after applying 20 minutes of anesthetic cream.

Recommendations to combat neck flaccidity:

  • Young people with incipient flaccidity: vitamin injections with/without HA, every 6 months in 2 or 3 sessions.
  • From 40-45 years of age, with greater flaccidity: injections of cross-linked HA or collagen inducers.
  • From 50 years of age: endodermal radiofrequency with gold needles (Intracel) with/without cross-linked HA.
  • From 65 years of age: cross-linked HA (since anything that tries to induce collagen at that age is of little benefit).

Price of treatments for neck flaccidity:

  • HA injections: 200€ per syringe of HA or cross-linked (1 to 2 syringes are used per session of Restylane Vital) and 330€ per syringe of cross-linked HA (1 syringe is used per session of Restyla Perlane).
  • HaCa (Radiesse) or Polycaprolactone (Ellansé) injections: 400€ per syringe (1 syringe per session is generally sufficient).
  • Vitamin complex injections NCTF-HA: 150€ per session.
  • PDO tensor threads: simple (30€ per thread) and complex (100€ per thread).
  • HIFU: 600€ per session.
  • Exilis simple radiofrequency: 60€ per session and with gold needles, Intracel: 500€ per session.

Pack in our clinic for Intracel + 1 Restylane Perlane per session: 700€ per session (instead of 830€), total 3 sessions.
