Treatment of the scars in the different aesthetic operations (II)

Blepharoplasty Scars

The postoperative period of a blepharoplasty is bearable and its recovery, although uncomfortable because the eye area is always delicate, is relatively fast. The patient should be involved in the postoperative period devoting considerable time to the care and cleaning of the areas affected by the intervention.

The scars will be visible for a few weeks, but we insist, the better the area is cleaned, the faster and more satisfactory the healing will be. That is why it is very important that the patient follows the instructions of the medical team and performs these cures and cleanings daily, carefully and always avoiding the wound or removing the stitches.

How to promote healing

Among others, there are guidelines to follow that we are all more or less familiar with. It is important to emphasize sun exposure and the use of sunscreen creams to avoid any complications.

From Clinica Granado Tiagonce we would like to recommend the use of Trofolastin, scar reducing patches that prevent and reduce the formation of hypertrophic scars, recent and old and small keloids. Its external surface is a microporous polyurethane membrane and the internal surface is an adherent acrylic film to facilitate its fixation to the skin. The effects are visible after 8/10 weeks of treatment. The apposite should be kept attached until it starts to peel off on its own, which usually occurs between day 5 and 7 after placement. They should not be removed before they start to peel off.

Depending on the type of scar and its age, the treatment can last up to 4-6 months. Consistency in the application is very important. The longer the dressing is applied, the better the results. Trofolastin is a scar reducer and is water resistant, it is not necessary to remove it for daily cleansing. It can be used on both recent and old scars. It is important not to start using it until the wound is completely closed, once the stitches have been removed and all the scabs have come off, then Trofolastin can be used.
