Breast augmentation by lipotransfer

Breast augmentation by lipotransfer, that is to say, with the patient’s own fat, is a technique of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery based on injecting fat grafting from other body areas, such as the abdomen, cartridge cases or waist, into the breast. The fat is extracted from the desired area with liposuction, processed through different procedures and finally injected into the breast.

Patients who are candidates for breast augmentation by lipotransfer are:

  • Patients who desire a moderate augmentation and to improve the shape of their breasts.
  • Sequelae and/or defects from previous surgeries.
  • Correction of small asymmetries without implant placement.
  • Partial or total breast reconstruction.
  • Combined surgery with liposuction.

With breast augmentation by lipotransfer the patient improves the shape of her breasts and increases, at most, one bra size.

Advantages of breast augmentation by lipotransfer

Breast augmentation by lipotransfer has certain advantages over other breast augmentation techniques:

  • The fat graft in the breast will behave like the rest of the fatty tissue, increasing or decreasing according to the patient’s weight changes.
  • The breasts will age naturally.
  • Scars are reduced, since only small incisions are made for the injection cannulas.
  • Improvement of the body contour in the areas of fat extraction, such as the abdomen, waist or thighs.
  • Breasts with natural feel without risk of palpation of the prosthesis.

Breast augmentation by lipotransfer: what happens if you lose weight?

The fat grafted into the breast behaves like the rest of the body fat. Thus, if the patient loses weight, the breasts, like the rest of the body, will also undergo this change.
