There are two main requirements for a successful artificial insemination pregnancy:
- The donor sperm meets the minimum requirements established by the World Health Organization (WHO). A seminogram or semen analysis will determine whether or not the sperm is valid for artificial insemination.
- At least one of the fallopian tubes of the woman who wants to undergo treatment is permeable. To verify whether artificial insemination can be performed, a hysterosalpingography or tubal x-ray will be performed.
Other factors that have a determining influence on the viability of the treatment are:
- Age of the woman: Assisted Reproduction specialists advise that the treatment be performed before the age of 35.
- Infertility time: The longer you have been infertile, the less chance you have of a successful pregnancy.
