Learn how to manage rheumatoid arthritis

Next Tuesday, September 15, the National Arthritis Coordinator and rheumatologists of the HM Hospitals Group, from the Top Doctors medical staff, are organizing a free information session with the aim of helping those affected by this pathology about it, how to control it, and who to turn to.

Rheumatoid Atritis is an autoimmune disease in which there is an aggression against the synovial tissue, resulting in inflammation of multiple joints. It occurs especially in the hands and feet, and causes progressive deterioration and, ultimately, disability. The most characteristic symptoms are pain and inflammation of the joints, and usually manifest themselves especially after nighttime rest.

For this reason, next Tuesday, September 15, the National Arthritis Coordinator and rheumatologists from the HM Hospitals Group are organizing a free information session with the aim of informing those affected by this pathology about it, how to control it, and who to turn to.

“Rheumatoid arthritis, doctor and patient, keys to good control of the disease”. Under this title, a series of professionals will offer their experience and knowledge to patients who suffer from this pathology or who want to know more about it.

According to rheumatologists, the disease has a genetic basis. However, it is activated in some patients but not in others, which remains a mystery. As for treatment, arthritis can be stopped but, unfortunately, there is no cure. To control its symptoms, early diagnosis is vital.

Among the professionals who will attend this informative session are the following, belonging to the medical staff of Top Doctors:

  • Dr. Marta Valero Expósito, deputy of the Rheumatology Service HM Hospitales Group.
  • Dr. Paloma García de la Peña, head of the Rheumatology Service, HM Hospitales Group.
  • Dr. Silvia Rodríguez Rubio, assistant of the Rheumatology Service, HM Hospitals Group.
  • D. Antonio I. Torralba, president of the National Coordinator of Arthritis.
