How we identify the best doctors

Let’s face it: Top Doctors is not an advertising directory. You cannot become a member of our circle of top medical specialists by paying. We assume that health is not something that can be bought, so money cannot be a requirement to join Top Doctors, nor can it buy medical excellence.

Contrary to what you might think, the difference between a good doctor and the best specialist in his field can be measured, and we do it. Proof of this is that only 1 in 10 doctors passes our quality audit. And we don’t rely on their fees either: the best specialist doctors are not always the most expensive.

That said, here’s what our selection process is all about:

1. Physician surveys In a survey, medical specialists from around the country recommend doctors who excel in each specialty and treatment.

2. Independent audit by ADECCO Medical & Science The consulting firm Adecco Medical & Science analyzes each résumé: years of experience, academic achievements, positions in public institutions, scientific publications, conferences, awards and recognitions. It also evaluates the quality of the center or clinic where the doctor consults and his or her online reputation.

3. Medical Committee Endorsement A medical committee for each specialty endorses the selection process and guarantees that all the medical excellence criteria required by Top Doctors are met.

4. Personal interview Patients value human treatment as much as professional quality. That is why, before approving a member of Top Doctors, we interview him/her.

5. Patient satisfaction Through anonymous surveys, we asked patients about their experience with each Top Doctors specialist.
