Platelet Rich Plasma: what it is and what benefits it provides

What is Platelet Rich Plasma?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is an autologous biological substance, i.e. it is obtained from your own blood. It contains a large amount of growth factors that favor the regenerative action on tissues, blood vessels and collagen formation. It is obtained in blood extractions and injected using the mesotherapy technique.

What are the benefits of a treatment with this blood derivative?

It is used for the treatment of skin aging and wrinkles. Due to the stimulation of collagen formation, texture, vascularization and consistency are improved. PRP has a rejuvenating effect that helps the skin look younger.

However, growth factors are useful in many other cases. They are used to regenerate hair loss and to accelerate wound healing.

This treatment shows better results in young patients, since their skin offers a better response than that of older people. Its action prevents the appearance of wrinkles, in addition to correcting their skin appearance.

This medical procedure is endorsed by the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Health Products, which in 2013 determined that its use is enriching for the skin, muscles, tendons and cartilage. However, its treatment is regulated and should only be performed by professionals in aesthetic medicine.
