Clitoroplasty: the decrease of the size of the clitoris

Clitoroplasty is a surgery that consists of reducing the size of the clitoris, since there are congenital anomalies that produce an increase in its size. This can be produced by an excess of testosterone or, if there is a hypertrophy, by hormonal abnormalities or by taking anabolic steroids.

We speak of hypertrophy of the hood when the clitoral hood is excessively large, which causes both discomfort and a loss of erogenous sensitivity. Clitoroplasty can intervene for this problem by reducing the size of the hood for better exposure of the clitoris.

On the other hand, there is sometimes a sagging of the clitoris, usually due to age, which can be corrected by raising and positioning it so that it does not protrude from the labia majora.

Both procedures last approximately one hour, are performed under local anesthesia and sedation and, once the surgery is performed and the observation time is over, the patient can return home. From then on, it is recommended to rest and return to work after 24-48 hours.
