Chest reduction

Breast reduction is performed in women with breast hypertrophy. It is an operation that involves removing fibroglandular and fatty tissue through an inverted T incision (peri areolar, vertical and horizontal). Not only tissue is removed, but the breast is lifted, achieving a better contour of the same.

The procedure considerably improves the quality of life of patients, in the sense of less back pain and greater ease in doing sports. But it is not only an intervention with the purpose of improving health, but with it is also obtained an aesthetic improvement, as it enhances the chest and stylizes the figure of women.

Risks of breast reduction

As any intervention involves risks related to surgery, such as seroma formation, hematoma or surgical wound infection. All of them are increasingly smaller, since preventive measures are taken, such as a correct hemostasis and antibiotherapy. Adequate scar management is important to avoid widening or hypertrophic scars. Sensitivity alterations may appear in the months immediately after surgery, but they usually have early resolution.

Indications after breast reduction

In the immediate postoperative period, patients should rest, without exerting themselves with their arms and keeping the wounds clean and dry. In 10-15 days stitches are removed and after 2 or 3 weeks, the scars are massaged to achieve a better evolution of the scars.

You will have to wear a sports bra for 1 month and sleep on your back for 3-4 weeks. After a month, they will progressively start to make efforts, gain weight and resume physical activity.
