Are protein-based diets bad?

We must differentiate between hyperprotein diets made with animal proteins – Dukan type – and the Protein Diet. In the former, there is no control over the amount of protein ingested, they are not adequately supplemented and, in addition, animal proteins have accompanying fats. However, in the Protein Diet, the amount of protein administered to the patient is measured and adjusted to their needs, minerals and vitamins are supplemented to keep the requirements covered, and the proteins we administer are fat-free. This is why high protein diets can damage the kidneys and liver and pose a significant health risk; unlike the Suico® Method Protein Diet, which is normoproteic and balanced in nutrients, and the weight loss thus achieved is beneficial to health.

Who can follow the Protein Diet?

The Protein Diet Suico Method® has a clear list of indications and contraindications that a doctor trained in the Method will know how to identify. The Diet can be followed by all those patients who, due to their clinical condition, do not have any contraindication. In principle, people under 16 years old or over 65, pregnant or breastfeeding women, type I diabetics, and other diseases that affect the functioning of the liver, kidney and pancreas, as well as other particular diseases that the doctor will rule out, cannot follow the Suico® Method.

Therefore, the diet should always be supervised and controlled by a specifically trained medical professional.

How long does it take? How many kilos can be lost?

The Protein Diet is the first step in a process towards normalization of eating behavior, learning new nutritional guidelines and a new healthy lifestyle.

There is never an ideal time to start it, but we must be aware that we will lose weight quickly and, if we complete the program, in a lasting way. At the end of the process we will have changed nutritional habits and lifestyle patterns.

It is estimated a loss of 6 to 10 kilos per month in the early stages, so it can be a solution to the so-called “operation bikini”, but I like to explain to my patients that it is good that they take solutions now to their overweight and / or obesity thinking about the summer, but it is the goal of the program that the weight achieved is maintained for the rest of his life so we must, during the diet, learn new ways of eating.

What kind of diet support supplements are needed and how do they help to achieve results?

The Diet is supplemented with very high quality Proteins, designed for the correct execution of the Diet. Thus, we take into account the amount of protein per serving and the type of protein, the digestibility and availability in our organism for its better use and higher performance, that its aromas and flavors are of natural origin and other peculiarities that the Suico® Laboratory range has in “Line15”.

Also, the diet must be correctly supplemented with sodium, calcium, magnesium and vitamins so that our organism does not lack any essential nutrient. Suico® Laboratory also makes available to Protein Diet patients the range of “PROTI” supplements suitable for the Method and which allow the physician to correctly prescribe the supplements required for each patient.

Will there be the well-known “yo-yo effect”?

The “yo-yo effect” must be distinguished from the “accordion effect” or also called “elevator effect”.

When we lose weight following a medical treatment, we must acquire new life habits and, of course, new nutritional habits. If at the end of the diet we return to bad habits, sooner or later, we will return to our initial weight. If this happens, we will be facing an “accordion effect”: I go on a diet and I get thinner, I eat again incorrectly and I get fatter. This is inherent to any diet.

In the Protein Diet, the dreaded “yo-yo effect” does not occur. This effect occurs when we lose weight improperly by losing muscle mass instead of (or in addition to) fat. By losing muscle mass (as happens in most of the poorly balanced and wrongly called “balanced” diets), our metabolism slows down so it is more than likely that we will regain the lost weight and even gain some extra kilos.

With the Suico® Method and Linea15 proteins, we preserve muscle mass during weight loss, so the dreaded “yo-yo effect” does not occur.

Why Linea15?

From Suico® Laboratory, we have been working since 2006 to offer, under a very wide knowledge of the Protein Diet and the R&D department, the design of the best product for the best result with the Protein Diet.

Championed by Doctors Sergio Pose and Agustín Molins and Ms. Francina Bastardes, Línea15 is born as a product of the highest quality, with very few carbohydrates and fats (as it should be to achieve a stable ketosis), with natural aromas and flavors (avoiding chemicals), without unnecessary substances for the realization of the Diet as Omegas, medicinal plants and others that may alter the function of the product and with two aspects that give it its name: 15 gr of protein per serving and at a price of 15 € the package of 7 servings, price thought in the economy of our patients. Undoubtedly, in the current situation, a discount of more than 25% compared to other proteins on the market, being Linea15 of the highest quality, make our patients send us signs of gratitude.
