Auriculotherapy: what is it and what is it for

Auriculotherapy is an ancient oriental science whose treatment consists in the stimulation of the auricular pavilion. It is a therapeutic technique that consists of pricking with needles or massaging the points of the ear for its treatment.

This booming treatment is having a good acceptance in recent times, given the large number of benefits it brings. The study of the ear dates back more than 2,000 years ago when the Egyptians already knew about the therapeutic purposes of the ear stimulation technique. Hippocrates also spoke on the subject and nomadic peoples, such as the Gypsies, exported simple auriculotherapy interventions from the East to Europe. Zacutus, a Portuguese physician, also treated and documented cases of sciatica by applying this technique of oriental science.

What are the advantages of auriculotherapy?

Throughout history, there has been only one recorded side effect from this technique: the slight pain that appears when pricked with the needle.

Auricular points

Ailments or discomfort can be prevented or treated by inserting needles or other methods in the auricle, which is a reflection of our body. The auricular points are distributed in the ear, resembling the image of an inverted fetus.

What does the treatment consist of?

Auriculotherapy is also based on the positive and negative energy that runs through our body, but above all on the representation of the parts of our body in the ear. Under this premise it is possible to understand that by stimulating certain specific points of the ear it is possible to treat any pathology or ailment.
