How to take care of your hearing health in 6 steps

The most common hearing ailments in Spain are deafness, tinnitus, vertigo and dizziness.

Like many professionals, Dr. Pablo Muñoz-Cariñanos believes that prevention is essential. The following tips are useful to take good care of your ears.

  1. Loud sounds are not good for our ears. Blows, traffic, street works, amplifiers and very loud music in closed places. If you have no choice but to expose yourself to these noises, we recommend the use of earplugs or insulating headphones.
  2. Be careful with the volume of headphones and do not abuse the use of these devices.
  3. At home, regulate the volume of devices such as the television or radio.
  4. Follow ear cleaning habits in your daily routine, but do not use cotton swabs. In addition to cleaning, it is important to dry them thoroughly after showering or bathing.
  5. If you think your ears have been affected by a cold and they hurt, see your ENT specialist immediately.
  6. Do not take any medication or use ear drops without a doctor’s prescription. You could cause a plug in your ears or other more serious problems.
