Cheekbone volume restoration

What is the importance of cheekbone volume?

When someone starts to notice that:

  • The under eye area is more pronounced.
  • The lower eyelids are starting to droop, giving a tired look.
  • The nasolabial folds (wrinkle that goes from the nasal ala to the corner of the mouth) begin to be marked.
  • When viewed especially in profile, your face does not form a youthful S-shaped cheek, but is flat, giving a less sensual and aged appearance.

When this occurs, in both men and women, we are talking about loss of cheekbone volume.

What treatment can we perform to improve the area?

There are three treatments to restore the desired volume to the cheekbones and rejuvenate the face: using hyaluronic acid (fillers) or calcium hydroxyapatite, autologous fat (lipofilling) or implants.

In the case of Aesthetic Medicine we talk about fillers and, par excellence for this area, hyaluronic acid.

The injection of highly cross-linked hyaluronic acid produces a tightening of the area thanks to the replenishment of its volume, giving a juicy, youthful and sensual appearance, improving by itself the area of the nasolabial fold and the laxity of the skin under the eyes.

What does the treatment consist of?

After a diagnosis of the patient, where the area will be assessed and the treatments to be performed to achieve the most satisfactory result, anesthetic cream is applied locally reinforced for greater patient comfort.

With small injections and/or cannula, the filler product is placed in the area, immediately restoring volume and generating a gentle lifting effect in the area.

How long does the treatment last?

Hyaluronic acid is made up of a series of molecules that are linked together creating a mesh structure. This three-dimensional network of chains can be manipulated. Depending on whether the acid is more or less cross-linked, it will have greater density and durability, or it will be more fluid and volatile.

In this case it is a highly cross-linked hyaluronic acid so it takes longer to be absorbed by the body, and its effects are noticeable for longer.

Who can undergo this treatment?

Any person who notices the loss of volume in the middle third of the face or who, simply in the case of men, wants to mark more this area giving a more masculine appearance or, in the case of women, wants to give a more sensual appearance to the face and, in both, greater facial harmony.

The cheekbones are one of the most important pillars of facial aging, because they contribute decisively to support the middle third of the face and is probably the area that loses the most volume. This causes us to have a flatter face and the nasolabial fold is marked.

Except in very specific cases such as sensitivity to the product, pregnancy, etc. hyaluronic acid treatment is completely safe and possible for any patient.
