Lifting is the solution against the signs of aging

One of the longings of modern society is not to age. To this end, traditional techniques such as meditation and yoga have become increasingly popular in recent years. However, there are simple and less expensive ways to try to eliminate the signs of aging. This is the case of the facelift, a cosmetic surgery that can improve the signs of facial aging that occur with the passage of time, mainly skin laxity, muscle sagging and loss of fat volume.

The facelift as such, can be frontal, of the middle third of the face, or cervical. However, it can also be a combination of these, depending on the anatomical area that the patient wishes to improve.

As is evident, the anatomy and physical characteristics of each patient are personal, and must be analyzed by the plastic surgeon in order to be able to perform the corresponding facelift in each case. The most common is to perform a skin peeling, and then suspend fat and muscle, thus achieving the most natural and lasting results. In addition, nowadays each facelift is associated with the infiltration of the patient’s own fat to restore facial volumes lost with the passage of time and age (lipofilling).

Possible risks of a facelift

Like all surgeries, the facelift may present complications that are easily resolved such as inflammation, effusions or discomfort in the scars. Exceptionally, a transitory lesion may occur in some branch of the facial nerve that recovers with the days.

A simple and lasting recovery from the facelift

Once the intervention has been performed, the patient must rest and avoid making sudden movements with the head during the first few days. In any case, it is a very bearable post-operative period for the patient, who only has to wear a bandage on the head during the first days to avoid possible swelling or effusions. Once the postoperative period is over, the results of the facelift are evident from the first day, and if the surgery has been correctly performed and the patients remain stable in weight, they can last between ten and fifteen years, without visible scars, since the only scar is located around the ear in its natural folds, and becomes invisible as the years go by.
