Mesotherapy

What is mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is an Aesthetic Medicine treatment that uses the stimulation of cell regeneration through the infiltration of different active ingredients to achieve a firmer and more elastic skin. It can be performed on the face to achieve a rejuvenated appearance or in various areas of the body to reshape the silhouette and stylize the figure. In mesotherapy treatment, active ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, platelet-rich plasma or various vitamins are usually used, which are injected into the area to be treated with very fine needles under topical anesthesia.

Mesotherapy is widely used to eliminate cellulite and the so-called “orange peel skin”.

Why is mesotherapy performed?

Mesotherapy is an effective treatment for both face and body to treat:

  • cellulite
  • skin flaccidity
  • stretch marks
  • scars
  • acne
  • fat reduction

What is mesotherapy?

The mesotherapy technique causes cell stimulation through a double process: first, the slight puncture that is performed activates the cells and, therefore, they are more receptive to the vitamins or substances that are then injected to nourish and moisturize them. This treatment is outpatient and painless. It offers highly satisfactory results for the patient, since with a minimal intervention of small punctures, visible changes in the state of the skin are achieved.

Normally, for the treatment to be complete, between seven and twelve sessions of 10 to 30 minutes each will be performed, depending on the individual characteristics of each patient and the area to be treated. Thus, mesotherapy treatment is usually performed for two to three weeks.

Preparation for mesotherapy

It is not necessary for the patient to carry out any specific preparation for the mesotherapy treatment. Before starting each session, the specialist will identify the areas to be treated, and once the area has been designated, the area will be cleaned with disinfectant alcohol.

Although it is not a dangerous treatment, mesotherapy is not indicated for patients with allergies, skin diseases, infectious diseases, any type of cancer or coagulation problems.

Care after the mesotherapy session

It is an outpatient treatment that does not affect the patient’s life: after the mesotherapy session, routine activity can be resumed without any problem. Depending on the objectives of the treatment, in order to optimize the results, the specialist may recommend a diet or physical activity routine to the patient.
