Apollo Method

What is the Apollo method?

The Apollo method is a multidisciplinary technique through which a stomach reduction is performed orally, thus avoiding open surgery. For this purpose, sutures are placed in the internal cavity of the stomach. Thus, it is an endoscopic procedure performed under general anesthesia.

Why is it performed?

The APOLLO method is especially intended for patients with a Body Mass Index (BMI) between 30 and 40. It allows to reduce the capacity of the stomach by 60-70%.

Preparation for the Apollo method

To undergo the Apollo method, the patient must fast for 8 hours and maintain a liquid diet one or two days before. In addition, the relevant preoperative tests (EGR, analysis, etc.) will be performed.

Care after surgery

Recovery after surgery is less than that of laparoscopic bariatric surgery, and the patient can normally return to his or her routine within 24 hours. Subsequently, follow-up care is monitored for a prolonged period of time.
