Iovera, the cold treatment against expression wrinkles

Everything pointed to the fact that botulinum toxin was going to be unrivaled as an anti-aging treatment, but Iovera, the new treatment to combat expression wrinkles with cold and without the need to inject toxins, has arrived in Spain. Dr. Adriana Ribé, a dermatopathologist who is a member of Top Doctors, is the first to use this technology exclusively at her practice in Barcelona, Ribe Clinic.

Cold for expression wrinkles

Expression wrinkles are those that arise when gesturing, and basically appear on the forehead, between the eyebrows and around the eyes. According to Dr. Adriana Ribé: “the way to eliminate expression wrinkles is to stop the muscle from moving. Until now this was achieved with botulinum toxin, which paralyzed it. With the arrival of Iovera, we are able to immobilize the muscle by applying cold to the nerve. In this way, the conduction between the nerve and the muscle is temporarily paralyzed without damaging it”.

Iovera, the anti-aging innovation

The Iovera treatment consists of the temporary injection of cold for one minute to instantly block the muscle, thus preventing it from moving and achieving the anti-aging effect. It is a treatment approved by the EC and its multiple studies guarantee its safety and excellent results without any risk. The treatment is applied to the patient’s expression wrinkles, after diagnosis by the specialist, and lasts about 3 or 4 months, although Dr. Adriana Ribé advises repeating the session a couple of times a year.

More natural than botulinum toxin

Iovera’s innovative technology is characterized by more natural results than the well-known botulinum toxin. “It is especially aimed at young people who do not want to start injecting toxins so soon or at people who undergo this type of treatment on a regular basis and who do not want to inject toxins so frequently. It is also an ideal protocol for men, since they tend to look for more natural results,” explained Dr. Adriana Ribé.
