In the months of April, May and June, visits to esthetic centers by people looking for ‘last minute’ body treatments to help them shape their figure for the summer increase by up to 60%. According to the data that Top Doctors® has extracted from its aesthetic medicine centers of excellence, spring is the season in which the most advanced medical technologies are most reliably resorted to, both to firm the body and to treat different symptomatologies.

Eighty percent of these last-minute patients are women and 20 percent are men. “We always try to educate them as much as possible so that they come well in advance,” says Dr. Mónica Maíz, a specialist at the Mirarmar Medical Institute. “But, without a doubt, April to June tend to be the busiest months. After that, consultations begin to decline and then pick up again in October and November”.

Lipoplasty treatments, the great allies of the last minute

If we deal with facial treatments throughout the year, we remember body treatments when the season of sleeves and shorts, sarongs and bikinis arrives. “At this time of the year, people are looking for aesthetic treatments to improve the figure, such as fat removal, flaccidity, cellulite, draining or firming, and a smaller percentage comes to treat minor alterations, especially in the legs, such as stretch marks, vascular problems or excessive sweating,” explains Dr. Natalia Ribé, of the Institut Dr. Natalia Ribé in Barcelona.

There is also an increased predisposition for non-invasive medical-aesthetic treatments as opposed to surgical ones. The star treatments are body treatments, for both men and women. “Lipoplasty treatments are simple, fast and safe, perfect for patients who are in a hurry and demand faster results, as is the case of men,” says Dr. Natalia Ribé. “They increase their treatments during these months, but they also take better care of themselves during the rest of the year”.

Lipolaser, intralipotherapy or lipomassage are among the most requested techniques. “In the case of men, and always after a previous diagnosis, treatments are usually performed based on techniques to dissolve fat especially in the abdominal area, back and nape of the neck,” says Leticia Carrera, director of the Felicidad Carrera Medical-Aesthetic Center. “For them, especially in the buttocks, hips and thighs”.

The most popular cutting-edge medical-aesthetic treatments What do they consist of?

The experts at Top Doctors analyze some of today’s leading medical-aesthetic treatments:

  • Mesotherapy to revitalize the skin: consists in the injection under the skin of a cocktail of drugs to promote drainage and regulate adipocyte metabolism.
  • Elimination of localized fat with intralipotherapy: This is a process of direct infiltration of homeopathic solutions into the adipose tissue that acts on the body’s fat deposits.
  • Radiofrequency for flaccidity: Radiofrequency is currently the best way to reactivate the formation of new collagens and elastin and therefore improve skin flaccidity.
  • Cellulite with Reaction technology: this is a technique that reduces, shapes and firms. In addition, it combines vacuum therapy (suction) for an even deeper penetration of heat.
  • Chemical anti-stretch mark resurfacing: It is based on a medical therapeutic procedure of exfoliation and leveling of skin depressions. It improves the elasticity of the area, mimicking the typical pearly-white color of the lesions.
  • Sclerosis with foam for the elimination of varicose veins: The treatment consists of the injection of a foamy sclerosing substance directly into the vein to be treated, with the aim of producing an inflammatory reaction in the walls of the vein and a consequent fibrosis, which ends in the disappearance of the same.
  • Soprano laser hair removal: This is an advanced laser that allows hair removal at any time of the year and, therefore, is the most requested in months closer to summer. Hair removal lasers work by firing shots on the skin and hair, but Soprano treatment is performed by moving the handpiece directly on the skin.
  • Botulinum toxin for excessive sweating: For hyperhidrosis, Botox is used to treat the armpits, palms of hands and soles of feet, either with topical and/or regional anesthesia.

Although these are non-invasive aesthetic treatments, it is important to put yourself in the best hands and choose the right medical specialist. Top Doctors offers patients its medical staff of excellence, with top level aesthetic doctors who are experts in these treatments.
