Clínica del Dolor Teknon is a national reference center in private health care. It was founded in 2008 by Dr. Luis Aliaga Font (DEP) at Teknon Hospital. It is currently coordinated by Dr. Victor Mayoral.
Both professionals have always believed in a multidisciplinary approach that increases the chances of improvement of the patient with pain. Therefore, within the medical team there are specialists in Anesthesiology, Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation, Psychology and Acupuncture.
The aim is to raise the patient’s awareness so that he/she can go to a multidisciplinary pain clinic as soon as possible. The commitment to research in the field of chronic pain has led since its inception to the association with the Millennium Pain Center in Chicago. Dr. Ricardo Vallejo is also the Scientific Director of Clínica del Dolor Teknon. In this way, the Clinic benefits from the only basic research department integrated into a private pain clinic.
Among the new treatments that have been incorporated, it is necessary to highlight the Fibromyalgia Unit (FM). In Spain there are more than one million sufferers, so it is necessary to respond to this reality with a multidisciplinary approach, improving its diagnosis in conjunction with rheumatologists, psychologists, neurophysiologists, acupuncturists and interventional physicians to offer the patient a tailored treatment that improves their quality of life.
As part of the growth plans of the Clínica del Dolor Teknon, a protocol for patients with ocular pain is being developed.
