Dr. Jorge Vila analyzed the new diagnostic and therapeutic methods in the approach to glaucoma

Dr. Jorge Vila, medical director of Innova Ocular Clínica Vila (based in Valencia), member of Top Doctors and national reference in the cutting-edge treatment of glaucoma, was one of the experts in this ocular pathology invited to participate in the 3rd Glaucoma Barraquer Meeting, which was held on October 27th and 28th in Barcelona. Specifically, as part of the “Conventional glaucoma surgery” round table at this meeting, the Valencian specialist gave a lecture entitled “Laser in glaucoma: Where are we and where are we going?

Promoted by the Barraquer Ophthalmology Center and held this year under the slogan “Inside Glaucoma”, the discussion forum addressed and analyzed the expansion of diagnostic and therapeutic methods in the approach to glaucoma that we are currently witnessing. “To know where we are and where we are going, we need to integrate basic sciences with clinical practice, with the consequent translational applicability that may result,” explained the organizers.

In this context, the main national and international glaucoma specialists addressed, among other topics, the change of some therapeutic algorithms that may lead to the appearance of new minimally invasive surgical techniques or the redirection of surgical indications in angular closure glaucoma, which may result from some new studies in this type of glaucoma.
