Polodioxanone (PDO) Magic Threads, the future of facial aesthetics

The poldioxanone magic threads are strategically placed in order to create a kind of support network of facial tissues, providing firmness and elasticity to the facial skin.

What are Polydioxanone Magic Threads?

The V effect (recovering the optimal distribution of the volume of the face in a natural way) through polydioxanone threads (PDO), also known as magic threads or Japanese threads, consists of the placement of various threads in strategic positions to create a network of vectors that act as a support for the tissues. Once these threads are implanted, an immediate lifting effect is achieved, together with a natural stimulation of collagen. These threads take about six months to be reabsorbed, thus producing a fibrosis in the treated area that achieves a tightening effect whose duration is approximately one year or one year and a half. However, the duration will vary depending on different factors, such as age or skin type.

The fibers generated provide a tightening effect on the skin, through the creation of a mesh that increases the collagen of the dermis, resulting in new lines of skin support. Thus, these threads will bring rejuvenation, luminosity and elasticity to the skin. In addition, the skin does not suffer at all, since no cuts are made, so it can be restored to normal immediately.

What does the technique consist of?

In a session of half an hour -implanting the magic threads- to which must be added another 30 minutes of anesthesia. Thus, according to the pattern drawn on the face and neck of each patient, the vectors are filled with PDO threads. These threads are placed in a fine-gauge needle carrier, and the needle is then applied to the drawn vectors, and when the needle is withdrawn, the PDO threads are implanted. Once implanted, the thread produces a fibrosis in the nearby tissues that activates the so-called fibroblasts, which generate new collagen and elastin fibers. In addition, this fibrosis ensures that the threads do not dislodge. However, as a protocol, and in order to achieve better results, FEMM specialists recommend a session of facial mesotherapy with vitamins, hyaluronic acid and amino acids 30 days after the treatment, as it adds hydration to the treatment.
