Anyone can have lip augmentation. All procedures have the same risk of having undesirable side effects intrinsic to the technique performed. These, however, can be minimized if the procedure is performed in appropriate facilities, with materials approved and permitted by the European community and the Ministry of Health, and with aesthetic medicine professionals adequately trained in theory and with proven practical experience.
To perform a lip augmentation there are non-surgical techniques (such as hyaluronic acid infiltration), minimally invasive techniques and surgical techniques of grafts and flaps.
Postoperative period for lip augmentation
After the lip augmentation procedure, the lips should not be moved much during the first three days after the hyaluronic acid is applied, and within a week in the case of the prosthesis.
Result of lip augmentation
The result of the lip augmentation procedure usually lasts between 8 months and a year, when it is done with hyaluronic acid, and until the prosthesis is removed, when this technique is used.
If necessary, the treatment can be repeated every year and as many times as the patient wishes, since the infiltration technique can be discreetly modified to improve the results according to the basal state of the lip prior to each infiltration.
