The relationship between sexual activity, exercise and sedentary lifestyles

Sexual activity has generally been linked to many diseases such as AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases. However, little has been said about the frequency of sexual intercourse in cardiovascular health care and lower risk of prostate cancer or fatal coronary events.

Recent studies on sexual behavior have been able to directly relate sexual intercourse to a higher quality of life in people over 70 years of age. Sexuality is satisfaction, but also health and well-being. However, in spite of this, the level of sexual activity decreases with age.

Similarly, physical activity has been associated with sexual activity, since it can also improve the physical health of adults who practice it. It is important to remember that an excessive sedentary lifestyle is harmful both physically and mentally. Therefore, on many occasions, this lack of motor activity may be related to less sexual activity.

To date, there is not much information about the relationship between obesity or overweight and sexual activity. People with these problems tend to participate less in sexual activities for many reasons: decreased male sex hormones, reduced erectile capacity, and metabolic syndrome that has a negative impact on men’s cardiovascular health. Also, being overweight is associated with lower rates of positive body image, which often results in some people’s avoidant responses to sex.

It has also been shown that a relationship with a greater number of sexual partners carries a higher risk of sexually transmitted infections and in some cases, infections such as HPV can lead to genital cancer.
