What is hair transplantation?

Hair transplantation or hair implantation is a minor surgical procedure that has been used for more than 25 years with very satisfactory results.

In essence, it consists of transferring hair roots from one part of the scalp to another that has lost its hair root permanently, generally due to hereditary causes, stress or some kind of accident. The root implanted in a new place grows in the same way as in the place of its extraction.

Who are candidates for a hair transplant?

Candidates for a hair transplant are all those people, men or women, who have lost hair in a part of their scalp (either in the front part of the scalp, in the crown or in some other location) and that after treatments based on lotions, vitamins or some other medical treatment are not able to recover it. When the person is not satisfied with keeping their hair, but wants to have more, hair transplantation is the appropriate treatment.

In hair transplantation, a limited amount of roots are extracted, usually approximately 2,000 to 3,000 hairs (the maximum that can be performed in a single intervention) and these roots are transferred to the place we want to cover or repopulate. Naturally the ideal candidate is a person who has very little bald area and therefore a lot of hair on the rest of the head. The more hair the person has lost, the more difficult it is to obtain an excellent result.
