Laser, the alternative to remove scars

All scars are susceptible to laser treatment. However, it should be noted that not all scars improve in the same way and it is difficult to achieve their total and definitive elimination.

Different scars, different lasers

Not all scars are treated in the same way, but with the same laser. For example, acne scars are treated with a laser called Fractional CO2 and/or Erbium yag laser. In a keloid scar, the treatment would be done with a vascular laser and/or CO2 and/or Diode laser.

Necessary sessions and definitive removal of scars

Normally, to eliminate scars, between two and four sessions are necessary, although everything will depend on the type of scar and its complexity, which also depends on the time of the sessions. There will be scars in which one session per month will be enough. In others, on the other hand, the sessions should be done every six months or a year.

Although the definitive elimination of scars is impossible, they can become almost imperceptible, with proper follow-up, according to specialists in General Surgery.

Safety of laser scar removal

Laser is a very safe treatment to remove scars, as long as the treatment is performed by an expert in medical-surgical laser who knows in depth the problems and pathologies of the skin.
