The facial tensor threads are transparent filaments that can be fixed or reabsorbable and that have small spicules that allow lifting or correcting facial flaccid tissues. It consists of introducing under the skin, through a fine needle guide specially designed for this purpose, threads of material fully compatible with the human body being anchored in the subcutaneous cellular tissue.
Once introduced, they are tractioned and a natural tension of the tissue is produced, obtaining a lifting effect. It can be applied to lift drooping eyelids, correct asymmetrical eyebrows, lift sagging tissues of the facial contour and cervical area, reposition sagging cheekbones and generally treat facial aging.
The way to place the tensors will depend on the area to be treated and will vary from one person to another. Once the threads are placed, the body will generate new collagen structures that will wrap the threads and help to keep the tissue elevated.
This technique does not replace the classic facelift but allows a facial rejuvenation without losing the natural features of the face. It is a procedure that can be complemented with other rejuvenation techniques. It can be combined with botulinum toxin, volume fillers, peelings or laser therapies. It does not contraindicate future facial surgery.
During the first days there may be slight swelling and small irregularities that resolve spontaneously in a few days. Normally, the patient can immediately resume normal activities. The effect is maintained for a period of 2 to 4 years, although the duration may vary depending on the type of thread, age, tissue structure and the number of threads used.
