What is eyebrow microblading?

Eyebrow microblading is a semi-permanent eyebrow makeup technique. It is a treatment that allows you to modify the design of the eyebrows, add more density or create it from scratch.

Why is eyebrow microblading performed?

Microblading is mainly performed to define and create eyebrows hair by hair and show a totally natural result. There are people who, due to health, stress or hormonal problems, have had a loss of hair in the area, have them depopulated or would like to redefine the eyebrows.

This technique makes a modification of the eyebrow design in a personalized way, taking into account the facial face, to provide a natural and long-lasting look, without being permanent.

What is eyebrow microblading?

This beauty treatment consists of pigmenting the eyebrows with the design that best suits the facial face. The result lasts about a year and there are reversibility options. The process takes about two and a half hours and consists of several steps.

First, a test is done to determine if the skin reacts to the dye. If 24 hours pass and there is no reaction, the treatment can be done.

Secondly, a small analysis of the eyebrows is done and any reason why it is not possible to perform the treatment is reported, in case there is any area where it could not be applied. Subsequently, the shape of the original eyebrows is measured in a design test and the skin tone, the light resistance of the pigments used, the client’s sun exposure habits, hair color, expectations… are analyzed.

On the day of the treatment, the area is cleansed and the ideal shape of the eyebrows is traced with a pencil. Next, the pigment is applied stroke by stroke with a disposable metal pen and three or five-pointed needles.

Preparation for eyebrow microblading

Before the visit, it is advisable to take several things into consideration. However, you can live a normal life, without drinking alcohol, coffee or other caffeinated beverages and/or stimulants 12 hours before. It is also advisable to avoid taking herbs and spices or eating seafood two or three days before the appointment, since, in the latter case, skin reactions may occur.

Two days before the treatment it is advisable to exfoliate and not to pluck the eyebrows, since the natural hair can be used. In addition, you should avoid using makeup on the eyebrows several days before your visit, because the remains of glycerin complicate the implant and the fixation of the pigments.

Finally, exfoliating treatments such as microdermabrasion or laser should not be performed within two weeks prior to pigment implantation, as well as botulinum toxin, AHA and retinoids.

Post-procedure care

During the day that the microblading has been performed, exercise should be avoided. In addition, it is also necessary to avoid taking aspirin, niacin, vitamin E, anti-inflammatory drugs, alcohol or any vasodilator 24 hours after the procedure.

Sun and UVA rays should be avoided and protected for a month, scratching, exfoliating or covering the area so that the pigment does not suffer alterations.

To clean the treated area, it is advisable to use baby wipes. Under no circumstances should makeup be applied to the area for a week.

Alternatives to eyebrow microblading

This technique is the least painful, the results are more natural and are reversible, unlike micropigmentation.

Another technique used to modify the appearance of the eyebrows is eyebrow hair transplantation. However, in any case, a specialist should be consulted to determine which treatment is the most appropriate depending on preferences and objectives.
