What is osteopathy for children?

Infantile osteopathy includes very soft and respectful techniques with the moment of growth in which the child is, to address and solve various problems that prevent the proper functioning of the organs and the symptoms that result: pain, sleep problems, colic, among others.

Why is it performed?

Osteopathy for children is used to treat:

  • Cranial alterations, such as plagiocephaly, brachycephaly or scaphocephaly.
  • Alterations of the digestive system: infant colic, gastroesophageal reflux, gas, sucking and swallowing problems or constipation, among others.
  • Nervous disorders: facial paralysis, obstetric bronchial paralysis, cranial nerve compressions, etc.
  • Emotional alterations, such as nervousness, insomnia, anxiety, hyperactivity, irritability…
  • Musculoskeletal disorders: tendinitis, contractures, scoliosis, problems in hips, knees or feet, and even sprains.
  • Otorhinolaryngological and ophthalmological disorders.

What does it consist of?

The treatment of children’s osteopathy is always carried out manually, with very gentle techniques, in which the osteopath places his hands on different parts of the baby’s or child’s body. In this way, the osteopath relaxes the damaged structures and tissues to achieve a better functioning.

Preparation for children’s osteopathy

No previous preparation is necessary for osteopathy sessions in children, but the techniques will significantly improve the functioning of the organs.

Care after the intervention

Although they are not painful interventions, the child may be slightly tired after the interventions, as the osteopath has not stopped manipulating his or her small body.
