Neck Lift

What is a neck lift?

The neck lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure applied to rejuvenate this area of the body where wrinkles and excess skin tend to form. This operation is performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation.

Why is it performed?

The flaccidity and sagging of the skin is a common process with the passage of age. It is from the age of 40 when aging begins to affect the neck and in some cases, the lack of firmness of your skin can be a complex for the patient. The results of the neck lift are usually very lasting and satisfactory, since a younger and smoother appearance of the neck is achieved, while the flaccidity of the skin is completely eliminated.

What does the neck lift consist of?

To perform this operation, an incision is made on the nape of the neck, just before the hairline, and another behind each ear (about 5 cm approximately). Then, through these incisions, the surgeon separates the skin from the neck muscles, tightening them to eliminate wrinkles and removing excess skin.

Preparation for the neck lift

The preparation for the neck lift is similar to that of the facelift. The smoker patient should avoid smoking for 1 or 2 months before the operation, and should eat light meals the days before the operation, avoiding saturated fats and alcohol. It is possible that the surgeon specialist may also recommend to avoid taking painkillers containing acetylsalicylic acid and anticoagulant drugs in general.
