Vaginal Laser

What is gynecologic laser?

Gynecologic laser is a quick and painless procedure that uses laser technology to restore the vaginal wall. It is a treatment that more and more women, especially those in the 45-55 age group, are relying on.

The treatment, which acts very gently on the tissues, improving the relationship between the vaginal mucosa and functionality, aims to regenerate the tissues, restore lubrication and restore natural elasticity. In addition, it also improves bladder functionality and reduces incontinence.

Why is it performed?

Gynecologic laser is a treatment performed for aesthetic, psychological and medical reasons:

  • To improve the quality of sexual life
  • To counteract the effects of menopause.
  • To eliminate the symptoms of genitourinary menopause syndrome.
  • To improve or eliminate stress urinary incontinence problems (immediate postpartum intimate disorders).
  • To eliminate cystitis, dryness and burning caused by estrogen deficiency
  • To replenish labia majora for aesthetic purposes
  • To regenerate vulvar wounds caused by thinning of the mucous membrane
  • To feel better, more seductive and feminine.

What does it consist of?

Gynecologic laser is a non-invasive, fast and safe method that uses a laser specifically designed to be applied to the vaginal mucous membranes. This treatment usually involves two courses 4 to 6 weeks apart, although some people need more appointments.

The laser has the advantage of operating directly on the vaginal mucosa, which leads the tissue to produce new collagen. It uses impulses that are sent inside the vagina to remodel tissues and muscle tone, thanks to the transmitted energy that increases the blood supply.

Thus, the production of collagen and elastic fibers is stimulated, favored by the reactivation of the cells responsible for elasticity. The duration of the treatment can vary from 15 to 30 minutes.

Preparation for gynecological laser

The gynecological laser does not require hospitalization, but before the execution, an anesthetic cream should be applied on the large and small lips.

Aftercare after the procedure

After the treatment, some women experience side effects such as mild discomfort and swelling, but these symptoms usually disappear after a few days.

After the procedure, it is advisable not to have sexual intercourse for at least a week, after which the results will be visible. Within 5-6 days, the patient can return to normal daily activities without complications.

Alternatives to this treatment (other more advanced treatments)

Laser treatment is a type of treatment that is sometimes combined with:

  • Labiaplasty: a more common procedure that involves reducing the length of the labia minora.
  • Clitoral hood reduction, which often accompanies labiaplasty.
  • Labiaplasty major, a procedure that reduces the size of the outer labia majora.

If the primary motivation for laser treatment is to tighten the vagina, a surgical procedure known as vaginoplasty may be an alternative treatment option.
