Liquid Lifting

What is a liquid facelift?

A liquid facelift, also known as a ‘Y lift’, is a non-surgical procedure that aims to reduce the signs of aging by restoring the natural contours and shape of the face. The liquid facelift works by injecting dermal filler into specific parts of the face and can achieve natural and subtle results.

Why have it done?

This procedure is usually offered to those who wish to correct the signs of aging without having surgery. With age, elasticity and collagen are lost, causing wrinkles and sagging in the face, and facial features become less defined. A liquid facelift serves to rejuvenate the face in a minimally invasive way.

The liquid facelift works by injecting dermal filler.

What is involved in a liquid facelift?

The procedure only takes 30 to 45 minutes and is performed using local anesthesia. After a thorough examination by a specialist, in which the desired effects are discussed, the sections of the face where the dermal filler needs to be injected are identified.

Temporary dermal fillers are used with results that last up to two years and are metabolized by the body. The most popular temporary dermal filler is hyaluronic acid, which is already found in human skin, therefore, it is compatible with it and behaves very similar to your own skin tissue. Sometimes a liquid facelift can be combined with Botox injections, especially if the goal is to reduce wrinkles and fine lines.

The procedure can work to achieve the following results:

  • Address facial symmetry.
  • Define the jawline and neck
  • Add volume to the cheeks
  • Open the eyes by lifting the eyebrow area
  • Correct jowls
  • Add volume and lift to the lips
  • Reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Each treatment is tailored and performed to address each individual’s concerns. Some patients wish to lift their entire face, while others seek to correct certain facial features such as under-eye bags or jowls.

How to prepare for it

Sometimes there may be a slight burning sensation when the injections are given, but this disappears quickly. It is not a suitable procedure for pregnant or breastfeeding women and people who have severe allergies should consult a specialist first.

Postoperative care

Very little care is required after a liquid facelift. Since this procedure is non-surgical, patients can return to normal activities almost immediately. Slight swelling or redness may occur after surgery, but this will subside quickly.
