New APP to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation in children

What should you do if your baby stops breathing? A new mobile app aims to give you an important resource for that moment, as important as a child’s life. The APP shows how to act in the event of a cardiac arrest in a child to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

The Pediatric CPR APP has been created by three pediatricians, including Dr. Ignacio Manrique, president of the Spanish Pediatric Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation group and member of Top Doctors. During the presentation of the APP, Dr. Manrique pointed out that by performing resuscitation maneuvers, survival increases by more than 40-50% of cases. The presentation of the APP aroused great interest during the European Cardiac Arrest Day, held last Wednesday.

Focusing on the mobile application, available for Apple and Android devices, it has an eminently practical purpose since its mission is to show how to act in cases of cardiorespiratory arrest of a child or baby. To this end, the APP has diagrams, images, videos and audios of the steps to follow. All based on the knowledge of the experts who have created it and on the latest international guidelines on CPR from the European Resuscitation Council (ERC). The APP does not require an internet connection once installed.

During the European Cardiac Arrest Day, various activities were carried out to raise awareness and training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Among them was the presentation of this APP, but it is also worth mentioning the video of the Spanish national team goalkeeper Pepe Reina explaining the CPR maneuver.
