The first European Hospital Halitosis Unit, in Teknon

The pioneering Breath Unit in Europe will allow the study of halitosis at Teknon. The main objective of this innovation is to provide a solution to patients with this pathology, who are currently considered the forgotten of medicine and are constantly referred by health professionals. Thus, the Breath Unit offers state-of-the-art technology to diagnose halitosis, such as the biosniffing or “electronic nose” system and gas chromatography, a method of breath analysis.

At the forefront in the study of halitosis

With this innovation, Centro Medico Teknon is at the forefront in the study of halitosis, a pathology that has a great impact on patients’ social relationships and influences their quality of life. This disease can be caused by more than 80 different causes, so the Breath Unit will have a multidisciplinary medical team of excellence in different specialties, such as gastroenterologists, otolaryngologists or specialists in Internal Medicine. The objective of integrating this new team of excellence is to provide in a single unit the most complete diagnosis and treatment for halitosis.

Team of excellence in the treatment of halitosis

This new project was born with the sponsorship of Centro Medico Teknon, through the vision of two renowned specialists in Halitosis: Dr. Jonas Nunes, dentist and stomatologist member of Top Doctors and director of the Breath Institute, and Dr. Jordi Coromina, otorhinolaryngologist member of Top Doctors and director of the Otorhinolaryngology Department of Teknon.
