Dr. Alió y Sanz, founder of the Vissum clinic and member of Top Doctors, has been recognized by The Ophthalmologist magazine as one of the ten most influential ophthalmologists in the world. The doctor is the only Spaniard to appear on The Powerlist 2016, a list made up of 100 professionals.
This is the second time Dr. Alió appears on the list of the 100 most influential ophthalmologists, having already been chosen in 2014. His extensive professional career has again been valued as one of the most comprehensive and of the highest excellence worldwide for his clinical and surgical, teaching and research activity.
Dr. Alió is currently Medical Director and founder of Vissum, with a career as an ophthalmologist in several medical centers and hospitals of more than 25 years of experience. He was a pioneer in the introduction of refractive surgery in Spain, and has become a specialist in cataract surgery, cornea, refractive surgery, glaucoma and intraocular lenses. He is the creator of the concept of microincisional cataract surgery (MICS), author of 86 books and co-author of 323 others. In addition, he has published more than seven hundred national and international publications in scientific journals, and his research in the field of ocular neovascularization, preventive ophthalmology, refractive surgery and anterior segment surgery has received numerous awards.
