Solidarity initiatives and tributes to health workers in front of the Covid-19

The goal of flattening the coronavirus curve is necessary. For this reason, the Spanish government declared a state of alarm and on March 14 announced the imposition of a national quarantine. Far from this confinement dampening the spirits of the population, they are turning to the medical professionals with their daily show of support and helping them as much as possible.

In this article we look at some of the tributes and aid initiatives being carried out by companies, associations and private individuals.

Help for Spanish doctors

The great effort being made by Spanish healthcare workers is being supported by the population and companies, which are joining different causes to help them in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic.

One of them can be found on Twitter with the hashtag #Delivery4heroes, an initiative that has been launched to bring dinner to doctors fighting the coronavirus pandemic in hospitals in Barcelona. Numerous companies have joined to facilitate the activity of health workers.

One of the unanimous complaints of healthcare professionals is the lack of protective equipment, including the lack of masks. Numerous textile companies have lent themselves to make masks to donate them to the State, as well as a multitude of associations and people who know how to sew, who have put their hands to work.

Likewise, an appeal has been made to those people who have 3D printers to create sanitary material, such as respirators, protective screens, etc.

Tributes and encouragement to Spanish health workers.

Faced with the great work being done by the Spanish health workers, the population turns to them every day at 20:00 in the evening by performing an applause on their balconies by way of gratitude. These demonstrations undoubtedly encourage and give strength to the professionals and help people to cope with the restrictions of quarantine.

A doctor at the Hospital Universitario de la Princesa (Madrid) shared a voice message via WhatsApp proposing an initiative to help patients who are hospitalized and isolated due to the coronavirus: that citizens send letters of support so that the doctors themselves can send them. This initiative caught on with the population and currently different organizations and hospitals are providing mailing addresses to receive these tokens of support.
