miraDry, may sweat not limit your life

A new technology that is revolutionizing the treatment of excess underarm sweating arrives in Barcelona for the first time. It is the definitive solution to excess underarm sweating with only two sessions. Now, through the miraDry system, we are able to eliminate underarm sweat and odor forever in just two sessions. Dr. Rafael Serena and Dr. Jaime Tufet, both members of Top Doctors, explain this innovative treatment.

What is miraDry® treatment like?

miraDry® is a safe solution to significantly reduce underarm sweating, approved by the FDA and clinically proven. It is an outpatient medical procedure performed in the doctor’s office that does not involve surgical incisions. Two treatment sessions, three months apart, are recommended to maximize the quality and duration of results. Each treatment generally lasts about an hour. miraDry is the only FDA-approved treatment that provides long-lasting underarm sweat reduction in a completely non-invasive manner. Some treatment options, including antiperspirants, are aimed at temporarily deactivating the sweat glands for varying periods of time, and require repeat treatments to maintain efficacy. Other options are surgical interventions, which carry their own risks.

How does miraDry work?

Treatment is individualized based on the location of the axillary sweat glands. Local anesthesia is applied to both armpits prior to the procedure for your comfort, followed by the medical treatment.

Does miraDry treatment hurt?

Most patients feel little pain because the procedure is performed under local anesthesia. During treatment, most people experience a slight pulling of the skin and some sensations of heat. There may be an occasional “hot spot” that is short-lived and well tolerated. On average, patients describe discomfort as about a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the highest).
