What instructions to follow after phimosis surgery

Many people may wonder what care should be followed after phimosis surgery. Dr. Monreal, a specialist in Urology, explains what measures to take after the operation.

Taking medication for discomfort

After surgery, as soon as the patient arrives home, he should take Paracetamol: one tablet every 6 hours, and the next day only if he has discomfort. If the Paracetamol is 1 gram, he will take it every 8 hours.

Maintaining the bandage and position of the penis after phimosis surgery

It is important to keep the penis close to the abdomen (upwards) for 10 days to avoid swelling.

Maintain the surgical dressing for 24 hours. If the patient notices any bleeding, he/she can press on the area for 10 minutes.

How to cure phimosis surgery, once the bandage is removed?

After removing the bandage, wetting it with plenty of water, a dressing should be applied every 12 hours with soap and water. Then dry well, even with the help of a hairdryer. Finally, dab with Betadine and cover with gauze.

The stitches will fall out on their own in approximately two to three weeks. The patient should not worry if they fall out sooner.
