Protruding Ears Correction: EARFOLD

What are “protruding” ears?

Also called “protruding ears” (hellix valgus), they are ears that are detached from the head and stick out more than you like. The surgery that corrects them is the Otoplasty. So far the only definitive treatment.

What is EarFold?

It is a new and simple technique that corrects protruding ears by means of permanent implants that the surgeon places under the skin (similar to a staple).

Under local anesthesia, a small incision is made through which they are inserted. Without bandage, with minimal discomfort, the patient can return to normal life the next day.

In which patients is EarFold indicated?

Patients over 8 years of age. After the examination, the surgeon will indicate if the patient is a candidate.

This technique is indicated to correct asymmetries and detached ears, mainly in the upper part.

What are its advantages?

  • Recovery is much faster compared to traditional otoplasty.
  • It does not require bandaging and is performed with a minimal incision.
  • The patient can see the result before to decide the correction to their liking! In the consultation a tester is used to simulate the final result and… decide!
  • The treatment time ranges between 15 and 45 min. in the doctor’s office.
  • Its cost is cheaper than surgery.
