New Techniques in Dental Implants

What’s new in the world of dental implants?

Everyone already knows what dental implants are, but every day we maxillofacial surgeons try to go one step further in our treatment. Nowadays we are very fast and in favorable cases we even try to remove the tooth in the same surgical act, place the dental implant and if the primary stability of the implant allows it, place a prosthesis in 24-48 hours. Immediate implant, immediate loading. Another great advance are the zygomatic implants. In cases where there is not even bone in the maxillary area, we can anchor the long implants in the zygomatic bone, in the malar bone. And the same process, in 24-48 hours we can have a fixed prosthesis screwed on those new implants just placed.

And in relation to the prostheses that then go over those implants?

Also in the world of prostheses on implants we are in a revolutionary moment. On the one hand, we are trying to place the teeth, the prostheses on the implants earlier and earlier. Immediately load those implants that have just been placed. For this we base our efforts on the primary stability of the implants to be as good as possible, by means of cone beam scanning and other techniques. And another step, once we are sure that these implants are well integrated, after a reasonable time of two or three months, we perform a scan and we are able to make an alignment of the patient’s structures, a best fit and the position of these implants. Without the need to take measurements at any time in the patient’s mouth, without the need for many appointments with us. We are able, thanks to this new technology and the latest generation software, to make fixed screw-retained prostheses on those implants already integrated.
