Laser Blepharoplasty

What is laser blepharoplasty?

Laser blepharoplasty is a type of eyelid surgery that removes excess skin, fat and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids of the eyes. This is done for cosmetic purposes and sometimes to improve the appearance of patients with facial paralysis.

Why is laser blepharoplasty performed?

Laser blepharoplasty is a cosmetic medical procedure intended to rejuvenate a person’s appearance by reducing or eliminating sagging or puffy skin around the eyes.

Who is the best candidate for blepharoplasty?

It is indicated for all those patients who wish to improve their appearance without being barely noticeable, either by age or other reasons. As a general rule, patients over 40 years of age usually undergo this type of surgery.

Before undergoing blepharoplasty, patients with diseases such as thyroid, hypertension or cardiovascular disease, among others, should consult with the doctor to avoid possible complications. If you have skin problems, are pregnant or breastfeeding, too.

What does laser blepharoplasty consist of?

It is performed under local anesthesia and a laser is passed over the upper eyelid to remove excess skin. The same procedure is then performed on the lower eyelid. A laser probe is used to dissolve the fat.

Laser blepharoplasty does not leave a scar, as only a small incision is made in an inconspicuous area for the insertion of the laser probe. The procedure takes about half an hour and does not require hospitalization.
