Earlobe Rejuvenation

The earlobe refers to the lower, fleshy, rounded part of the ear.

What is ear lobe rejuvenation?

With the passage of time, the earlobe loses collagen and elastin, so it ages and loses density acquiring a flaccid, wrinkled and inconsistent appearance. The preauricular area may also deteriorate and vertical wrinkles may appear, increasing even more the aged appearance of the pinna.

Why is it performed?

The earlobe rejuvenation procedure is performed to treat these signs of aging that can be seen in this part of the body.

With the passage of time, the earlobe loses collagen and elastin.

What does it consist of?

The earlobe can be rejuvenated using two techniques:

  • Small intervention to close the lobe (if it is torn). Local anesthesia is used. After a month, the hole can be re-drilled and an earring can be placed.
  • Without surgery, by inserting hyaluronic acid or calcium hydroxyapatite fillers through a fine needle. With this, the loss of density is solved. Hyaluronic acid is found in our body, in cartilage, joints and skin; its properties are to provide firmness, support and volume to the tissues.

Normally both techniques are performed in a single session and usually last one year.

Preparation for earlobe rejuvenation

This technique is performed under topical local anesthesia. No special preparation is necessary, although the physician will need to take a medical history.

Care after the procedure

You can live a normal life the day after undergoing the technique, although it is necessary not to wet your ears for a couple of days or wear earrings. In the case of the earlobe closure procedure, the earlobe should remain closed for at least one month.
