Spanish Paralympic Committee athletes will treat their injuries with shockwaves

The medical team of the Spanish Society of Extracorporal Shock Waves will treat the athletes of the Spanish Paralympic Committee through acoustic signals to regenerate damaged tissues, derived from possible injuries. The agreement, signed a few days ago by both institutions, recognizes the effectiveness of the treatment, which shortens the recovery periods of the athletes.

Dr. Fernando Dujo Rodríguez is an expert traumatologist in the specialty and a member of Top Doctors, as well as the president of the Spanish Shockwave Society, and he treated an athlete with three sessions. Thanks to his work, the London 2013 Paralympic Marathon World Champion, Mari Carmen Paredes, who is visually impaired, managed to recover almost completely from right pyramidal muscle syndrome. She also underwent tecartherapy for the associated deep fibrosis.

Mari Carmen’s evolution allows her to continue with her sporting activity, although she is recommended to receive a monthly session for a complete recovery. A treatment that is understood as a success, given that this recovery is much shorter than in the case of other conventional treatments.
