The rhinoplasty procedure

Rhinoplasty or nose surgery is one of the most common procedures performed on the face and should be performed by a surgeon with extensive training in both aesthetics and nasal functionality. There are several reasons why a person wants to undergo a rhinoplasty, such as: dissatisfaction with the nose with which they were born, changes in the shape of the nose over the years, trauma or improve breathing and take advantage of surgery to change the shape of your nose.

Through a photographic scanner and with a special software for nose surgery, we can improve the shape according to the face of each person, we analyze the measurements of both your face and your nose to define the plan of the changes that we will need. In these nose jobs, we can even perform a virtual surgery so that the patient can take part in the changes and see what his face will look like with the new nose, both from the front and from the side. In this way, the patient will be more sure of the change he/she wants to make and also I as a surgeon will be able to know what exactly the patient wants.

In nose surgery, it is impossible to separate aesthetics from functionality. That which improves nasal aesthetics can have negative consequences at the functional level, so current rhinoplasty techniques do not remove as much tissue as those of the past. Now, we reinforce and support the structures to modify the shape and if we remove some tissue we reconstruct it. In this way we obtain totally natural and lasting results in both aesthetics and functionality.

The incision needed to make a rhinoplasty varies according to the changes that are needed, there are noses that require minimal modifications and the incisions are only internal but if the changes are larger we must make small external incisions in the columella or at the base of the nostrils, but always from the base of the nose inward and not outward as it was done before and were very visible. During the procedure we also perform endoscopic approaches especially when there is a problem of nasal functionality. These incisions are camouflaged and are practically invisible. In addition, with these new approaches we obtain better and more natural noses.

After making the incisions and freeing the skin, we proceed to sculpt, reinforce and reconstruct the cartilage and bones of the nose to achieve the desired result. Once the nose surgery is completed, we place a bandage that helps to maintain the new shape of the nose during the first week. For several years we no longer place nasal packing.
