Aspects to be considered in COVID-19

Why is confinement important?

I think that Spaniards, in general, and Santa Pola people, in particular, are doing well by staying at home, since without this measure the rate of contagion would increase a lot and the health system would be saturated. The data show us the importance of the confinement: From March 8, a match was played in Madrid with 70,000 spectators and a demonstration took place with 120,000 people. On March 8, the number of positives in Spain went from 132 to 626 the following day. On March 14, the date on which confinement began, the number of infections stagnated, and although experts say that the worst is expected in the coming weeks, according to the statistics provided, the measures adopted are the correct ones.

Therefore, I think that we are doing well and that we must continue to stay at home next week, since it is a critical week when the good weather starts, and in a society like ours, which likes to go out in the street, hug and greet people, we must make an effort to avoid all this and manage to combat this epidemic.

Many professionals are on the front line of battle: emergency physicians, intensivists, anesthesiologists… and they are fighting against this virus and need means that are quite scarce, and in this regard the Government must respond by providing health workers with masks, personal protective equipment (PPE), so that going to work is not an ordeal for health workers.

Maintaining bone metabolism during the quarantine period

Some guidelines that citizens can follow so that during this confinement the bone metabolism is not affected are:

  • Going out to the window or terrace for sunbathing
  • Moving around the house with the children
  • Doing a 20-minute exercise routine
  • Follow a routine with a fairly disciplined schedule

These guidelines will help children get into an appropriate rhythm of life and make the confinement more bearable.

Spread of the virus

Regarding the spread of the virus, it is necessary to stay at home, including the younger population, who sometimes think they are immune without realizing that they are vectors of the virus. We must avoid saturating the health system, since its saturation will depend, on the one hand, on the viral load with which the contagion occurs and, on the other hand, on the transmissibility of the virus, which is what is causing this crisis.

Once people have passed the virus, with rare exceptions according to current data, they create defenses that make them immune and in case of re-infection as has been seen in other countries, the symptoms are not the same.
