How does Covid-19 affect cancer patients?

The current pandemic caused by the coronavirus is affecting both the Spanish population and the rest of the world. But it is worth noting that it is affecting even more those people who, either because of their age or their state of health, are more vulnerable.

At the HC Marbella center we find a large number of patients who are at risk: oncology patients.

Coronavirus in oncology patients

At present we do not have sufficient data to know how the virus acts in people with primary or secondary immunodeficiencies, nor can we affirm that the virus worsens the tumor pathology itself, in many cases having a mild clinical course.

Despite this, it is essential to follow all the recommendations and to take extreme precautions in those patients who are being actively treated, as well as those considered to be immunosuppressed, as they are a population at risk.

Do they follow any special measures apart from those indicated by the Ministry of Health?

Immunosuppressed patients should follow the same recommendations as the rest of the population, so it is not necessary for them to follow any special measures.
