Gamete Donor DNA Bank

Knowledge about human DNA and its relationship with certain diseases is increasing day by day, and this is a matter of concern for Assisted Reproduction patients, especially when using donated gametes.

Clinica Tambre pioneered the creation of a donor DNA archive several years ago, so that in the future it will be possible to consult the genetic constitution of both sperm donors and egg donors.

What are the advantages of this gamete donor DNA bank?

Tambre was the first assisted reproduction center in Spain to offer the possibility of conserving the DNA of gamete donors (oocytes and sperm). This service, aimed at patients who wish to become parents through the technique of egg or sperm donation at the Clinic, will make it possible to know the genetic code of the donor in the event that their descendants develop a hereditary disease that requires a diagnosis in the biological father or mother.

This service will allow the collection and storage of DNA samples from donors, and will make it easier for descendants to have their genetic history whenever necessary, in order to perform genetic tests that confirm or rule out possible family mutations.

This DNA is extracted from a sample of the donor, quantified and preserved stabilized and guarded in devices prepared for this purpose, thus guaranteeing its analysis for decades and its origin.
