Nowadays we all want to have healthy and beautiful teeth, and at an aesthetic level, LED teeth whitening is one of the most appropriate and quickest solutions to lighten the shade of teeth.
What does LED teeth whitening consist of?
It is an innovative treatment based on cold light emissions through a LED lamp to whiten teeth and beautify the smile. Afterwards, at home, the patient -if he/she wishes to optimize the results- can apply a specific gel for a few hours a day, or do it while sleeping.
This is a really effective and practical procedure. It is carried out in a single visit of about 35/40 minutes, through a continuous program of 5 light exposure sessions of about eight minutes each.
A whitening gel is previously applied, and then the wavelength of the LED lamp causes the acceleration of the whitening. In the vast majority of cases, optimal results are obtained without discomfort, although it depends on the origin of the discoloration, its severity and the patient’s reaction to the peroxide (the substance of which the gel is composed).
How can we maintain the results over time?
At Dentaesthetic Corporation we recommend, at the end of the treatment and if the patient wishes, that a whitening agent be applied at home to maintain and optimize the effects of the treatment. It is a less concentrated gel that is applied during the sessions, and it is placed in the mouth by means of a customized splint system -a device that covers the teeth in order to keep the gel on them for a few hours every day (or night if preferred)-. In our clinic we will advise you on how long this period of prolonged action should last in order to improve the results obtained with LED light.
Can it be applied in all cases?
Before this process, we carry out an exhaustive revision of the patient to check that his dental health and the state of his gums is correct. Also, a dental hygiene is performed because if there is tartar or stains, the desired effects would not be obtained later.
