End hyperhidrosis for a sweat-free summer

About 3% of the Spanish population suffers from hyperhidrosis or, in other words, excessive sweating, a problem that worsens in summer. Fortunately, there is already a solution for hyperhidrosis: the well-known Botox. This substance not only serves to eliminate wrinkles but can also normalize the activity of the sweat glands. Thus eliminating that annoying and unwelcome excessive sweating.

The so-called hyperhidrosis is a little known disorder but much more common than is believed and, although it is often underestimated or hidden, it can lead to deterioration of the lives of those who suffer from it.

Botulinum toxin is the solution for hyperhidrosis, since its effects relax the activity of the sweat glands, thus reducing the appearance of sweat in the treated area.

In our center we perform this technique after applying topical local anesthesia or cryoanesthesia (which is by cooling) in the underarm area. Although it should be clarified that when the hands (palmar hyperhidrosis) and feet are to be treated, as they are more sensitive areas, the procedure is performed under truncal anesthesia.

Botulinum toxin infiltrations

The second step is the infiltration of botulinum toxin. Botox is infiltrated subcutaneously in different points of the palms of the hands, armpits and soles of the feet, depending on the case and its needs. The patient will begin to notice a decrease in sweating between the fourth and seventh day, reaching a maximum effect after fifteen days of having undergone this technique to end hyperhidrosis. The effect of the treatment lasts between seven and ten months depending on the metabolism of each person.
