How to remedy skin blemishes

The sun is one of the main factors that influence the appearance of spots and imperfections on the skin. As the tanning process fades, they become more visible, especially on the face, hands, cleavage and shoulders, which are usually the areas that suffer the most from the effects of the sun’s rays.

Dr. Adriana Ribé, specialist in Aesthetic Medicine, states that each spot is different and requires specific treatment and prior diagnosis by a specialist.

One of the most common consequences after the summer is the appearance of spots and imperfections on the skin. A skin diagnosis should be made after the summer to study both the new spots that have appeared and the changes in those that were already there.

Predisposition to skin blemishes

In young women, blemishes are more frequent, although they also appear in men in the same way as they get older.

How to remove skin blemishes

To achieve healthy, blemish-free skin, there are different treatments for each type of blemish: sun spots, melasma and superficial blemishes, wrinkles and scars.

  • Solar lentigines: Picoway picosecond laser.
Solar lentigines are those spots that appear in sun-exposed areas and have a round shape with irregular margins. They originate with age or excessive sun exposure. They are also known as age spots. Using the Picoway picosecond laser, the laser light emitted in picoseconds destroys those cells with excess pigment without damaging the surrounding tissue, eliminating the spots completely.
  • Melasma: Picoway RESOLVE and Fraxel laser 1927 nm
Melasma is a spot of hormonal origin, with an irregular shape and diffuse borders. It usually appears on the lip, forehead or cheeks and worsens in summer with sun exposure.
The Picoway Resolve laser uses a fractionated lens that emits energy in a way that makes it possible to reach the superficial and deep dermis without damaging the epidermis and without emitting heat. Thus, the pigment responsible for the skin lesion is destroyed.
The Fraxel laser is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of melasma. It renews the outer layer (epidermis), eliminates excess pigment and activates the formation of collagen in the deep layers of the dermis, thus improving the skin in this area and making it uniform, soft and smooth. These laser treatments are combined with antioxidants, depigmenting creams and protection factor.
  • Superficial blemishes, wrinkles and scars: Fraxel Dual Laser
Fraxel Dual Laser is one of the best lasers to treat the signs of photoaging caused by excessive sun exposure.
This technique renews the outer layer (epidermis) and activates the formation of collagen in the deep layers of the dermis, improving the skin in this area and making it more uniform, smoother and softer. It is recommended to combine the laser with good antioxidants, promoting intensive and deep regeneration of the skin, counteracting the excess of free radicals and helping to decrease the melanin concentrations that are at the base of sun spots.
