Clinical Hypnosis for Smoking Cessation

The IPH Method to stop smoking is a highly effective therapy based on Clinical Hypnosis. With this method we can find solutions to pathologies that we considered impossible to solve. In fact, in recent years the number of patients has increased due to the satisfaction of the results.

Benefits of Clinical Hypnosis

Therapeutic Clinical Hypnosis or Hypnotherapy has the great advantage of allowing experts in psychology to access the unconscious, a fact that gives us valuable information about the causes of a problem. It helps us to know ourselves better, to change negative memories about certain traumatic events or internal conflicts. It also helps us to improve motivation and self-esteem in order to be able to make decisions with confidence and security. There is a long list of problems that benefit from treatment with therapeutic clinical hypnosis. In general, its most widespread application is in those cases that have a psychological or psychosomatic root.

What is the IPH Method for smoking cessation?

I developed the IPH Method several years ago and it is carried out exclusively in our office at CHC Psicólogos Madrid, located at 16 Orense Street. This technique provides excellent results in patients who have come to us to quit smoking. We are the pioneer center in Spain in implementing clinical hypnosis as a support to cognitive and behavioral psychotherapeutic techniques with the aim that the patient changes any kind of habit.

Clinical Hypnosis is the basis of our smoking cessation therapy. Our IPH Method consists of a series of appropriate mental strategies to achieve the set goal. A successful therapy to put an end to nicotine and to be able to start enjoying a healthy life from the same day.

An advice for those who want to quit smoking

This will probably be one of the most important decisions of your life and the patient is the one who decides to quit this habit, so he/she must be fully convinced of it. We cannot convince anyone that they have to quit smoking, nor can we force them to do so. It has to be of their own free will and that they are completely sure.

Effectiveness of the IPH Method

It is a highly effective therapy, although one of the essential requirements for effectiveness is that the patient has made a real decision without excuses to stop smoking. We always warn that it will be difficult to obtain the expected results if the patient’s motivation is weak or if he/she does it just “for the sake of trying”. The person who has a clear motivation and follows the guidelines we offer gets the expected results from the first day.

Do patients have to take any kind of medication during therapy?

Not at all. Quitting smoking with our IPH Method and quitting tobacco is possible and you can do it in a simple way, without taking medication, without patches and of course without electronic cigarettes. The latter never end the addiction since they contain liquid nicotine, so the need to smoke is demonstrated only by the fact of buying them. We get the patient to stop smoking in a completely natural way.

How long does the IPH Method last?

Our Clinical Hypnosis therapy for smoking cessation is a very brief treatment. In most cases, the patient only needs to attend two days of therapy. The total duration is two hours spread over two sessions. Each session consists of one hour and from the first appointment you should begin to notice the results, being the first firm step to put an end to your addiction. You will have to follow a series of guidelines and, of course, while, during and after the treatment there is a follow-up.

During the therapy, is the patient conscious or asleep?

No therapeutic Clinical Hypnosis treatment carried out by a professional will ever suppose the annulment of the subject’s will. That is a myth based on show hypnosis that has nothing to do with it. The Clinical Hypnosis treats problems of health, the patient comes to us and asks us for help to solve problems, phobias or addictions and we help him to improve significantly his quality of life.

What is the waiting time you currently have in your office?

With the anti-smoking advertising campaigns that emerged a few years ago, demand began to skyrocket, so we decided to expand the number of weekly therapies. At the moment, the patient who calls us always has an appointment as soon as possible.

We have new patients requesting appointments daily through different means. There is a good team ready to attend to any type of request or information instantly, within our office hours.

Would you give any advice to smokers?

I imagine we all know what is good or harmful for our health. Tobacco attacks the lungs little by little and affects the quality of life, not to mention the many health risks and problems that come with smoking. I was a smoker many years ago and quit my addiction to tobacco with my own IPH Method, one of the best decisions I have ever made. As I have said before, you can’t force anyone and you have to be fully convinced that you want to quit.
